About Me

Hi there!

I am a recovering perfectionist who was born and raised in Hanover, New Hampshire. I graduated from Hanover High School and Dartmouth College and then spent about twenty years away from the Upper Valley before finding myself back in Hanover. I worked as a college ice hockey coach for 10 years, and spent 5 years coaching for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite girls’ ice hockey program. I have also coached ice hockey at the youth and high school levels, and was a referee for over 8 years.

My therapy draws on my experience as a coach and mentor, as well as the significant training I’ve received in mental health counseling including specialized training in working with anxiety, phobias, and OCD. My counseling sessions usually contain humor and can be quite directive (I’ll point things out that other therapists might let slide). I make the assumption that my clients arrive at my office struggling to make changes that they feel will be helpful, so I might push you a little more than some other counselors. I also like to work collaboratively with my clients, and allow them to tell me how much they would like to be pushed. Somedays, people just need someone to listen. I can do that too.

My ultimate goal is to help my clients ‘become their own therapist’. While I’m happy to work with people on a long term basis, my goal is always to get my clients to a point where they are better able to manage their life and the challenges it brings. Sometimes that can be done in as little as 8-10 weeks. Sometimes that might be a lot longer. Everyone is different, and our lives are always changing. I’m happy to work at whatever pace and for whatever time period you need.
